The demonstration product was the Hexa, a new electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft from Lift Airline, a Texas-based futuristic aircraft technology company.The aircraft resembles a large drone with 18 sets of propellers, motors and batteries. It has only one seat and weighs just 432 pounds.

Lift launched their project in Budapest in October 2017, and on December 11, 2018 the company presented their progress to the public via social media and debuted the Hexa at SXSW 2019 in Austin, Texas in March 2019.The Hexa is an all-electric vertical take-off and landing (EVTOL) single-passenger Unmanned aircraft, mainly used for tourism and short trips. It completed its first manned test flight in November 2018.

Lift Airlines is a technology business founded by Matt Chasen, a serial entrepreneur, investor, and adventure sports enthusiast. in 2003, while earning his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, Chasen founded uShip - the first and largest online shipping exchange platform today, which today has a total annual sales exceeded $200 million.

The Hexa has a power system of 18 individual propeller engines that can control the drone's flight patterns by varying the speed of individual motors. The Hexa can continue to fly with up to six engines failing but is also equipped with an automatic parachute for emergencies. The Hexa flies using distributed electric propulsion (DEP), and the presence of a flight control computer Allows flight operators to simply control the aircraft by varying the speed of multiple motors. As drone industry pioneer Colin Guinn says, "Pilots don't fly planes like traditional helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft." .

The Hexa fuselage is made of all carbon fiber, and the original 2019 drone features a landing system consisting of four large buoys capable of soft landings on both the water and the ground.

According to the Federal Air Traffic Administration (FAA), the Hexa is a powered ultralight aircraft, so it does not require a pilot's license to fly. According to regulations, the aircraft has a maximum empty weight of 254 pounds (115 kg), but each landing gear weight is allowed to be 30 pounds (13.7 kg), with an additional 28 pounds (12.7 kg) of the parachute system, so it can carry 250 pounds (113 kg) of passengers for up to 15 minutes of flight.

The Hexa is semi-autonomous, and its stability is achieved by a flight control computer. After virtual reality (VR) simulator training, passengers can use either a single three-axis joystick or a small touchscreen for autopilot. The flight computer system continuously calculates the amount of power needed to return to the starting point, so the Hexa can return and land automatically. It can also land automatically in a designated safe area or be controlled remotely by a trained safety pilot.

The Hexa's first test flight was on May 25, 2018.On November 1, 2018, test pilot Matt Chasen took to the skies for the first time in the Hexa. Lift Airlines is also working on upgrades. On December 11, 2019, Lift Airline announced that an improved version of the Hexa will be coming soon. It will have a lighter airframe, a quieter motor, and a redesigned, more stable landing gear.
