It is worth noting that not long ago, India's defense minister Rajnath Singh during his visit to Russia, had asked Moscow to deliver to India in advance, including the S-400 missiles, a large number of ordered weapons, the Russian side gave the maximum satisfaction, said they were willing to deliver equipment in accordance with the requirements in advance, only the S-400 anti-aircraft missiles can not be delivered in advance, there is news that there may even be a delay, the Moscow announced that the Deliveries on schedule, while still falling short of India's initial requirements, were a special "treat" for India, given Russian practice in arms sales.

According to reports, in 2018, India and Russia signed a huge military purchase and contract worth $5.43 billion to purchase five sets of S-400 long-range air defense systems, according to plans to be delivered by the end of 2021. 

Prior to the S-400, India was reportedly not equipped with any homeland long-range air defense system and was only armed with medium and short-range field air defense missiles. The arrival of the S-400 is believed to greatly enhance India's homeland air defense capabilities, especially its early warning and air defense systems in border areas, and the mood in India is eager, considering that India's major neighbors have already received the air defense missile in 2018.

At the defense exhibition held in Moscow a few days ago, representatives of the Russian Military Cooperation Bureau confirmed that the detailed timetable for the fulfillment of the contract was discussed with the Indian side, and the Russian side said that further acceleration was not possible because of the complex process of production arrangements, acceptance tests and equipment transfer, mainly because of the impossibility of early delivery. 

The Russian side is reported to have said that the total amount of military purchase orders signed between India and Russia currently amounts to $15 billion and that the parties are currently engaged in accelerated procurement and technology transfer regarding AK-203 assault rifles, Igla-S man-portable air defense missiles.
